Patience is a
Virtue — I Kid You Not
.
don't know about you,
but patience is not exactly my long suit.
It seems
that everything that I want to happen has got to
happen NOW! But it rarely ever does. And so I become
even more impatient. An exercise
in stupidity, I tell you. And in futility. And boy, do I pay a
price for that impatience!
OK, so why am I letting you in on the
seamier side of my nature? Why am I washing my dirty personal linen in
public, so to speak?
Well, I've run across some
great bits of wisdom on the blessings and wisdom of patience. And on
the chance that you also lack patience,
I'd like to share some of it with you.
What wound did ever heal
but by degrees? — William Shakespeare
With time and patience the
mulberry leaf becomes a silk gown. — Oriental proverb
To lose patience is to lose
the battle. — Mohandas Ghandi
Stumbling is the fruit of
haste. — Arab saying
You're not defeated until
you lose your patience. — Robert Schuller
In any contest between
power and patience, always bet on patience. —
Anonymous
Never cut what you can
untie. — Joseph Joubert
The slower you go, the
farther you will be. — Russian proverb
There's no escape from the rule that we
must do many, many little things even to accomplish just one big
thing. — James Q. DuPont
To go faster, you must slow down. —
John Brunner
There you have it.Ten insights into
the absolute, unqualified, critical
need for patience culled from what is literally the
wisdom of the ages. Chew on them. Taste them. Roll them around in
your mind. Look at them from every angle. Their insights are as
important to your well-being as are water and oxygen. I kid you
not.
Thnk about it.
